Very Beautiful Uniform Smooth Glass Wool Pipe for Heat Insulation not Made By Handwork Very Beautiful Uniform Smooth Glass Wool Pipe for Heat Insulation Made By Machine Glass wool is produced from a thick layer of glass fibres that are cured in an oven at about 200°C to bind the fibres together and hence reduce the thickness of the layer. The molten glass from the furnace is fed by a distribution station into the different forehearths. In the forehearths, the temperatures into the feeders are monitored and typically controlled by silicon detector-based radiation thermometers coupled to the thermal radiation through a fibre optic cable. From the forehearths, the molten glass flows into the rotating fibre spinner, which forms, by centrifugal force, small pieces of glass fibre. The temperature of the spinner is controlled by either a single or dual waveband radiation thermometer. For quality control purposes at the entrance and exit of the curing oven, the mat of fibres is imaged by infrared line-scanners with a very high measurement speed to detect undesired hot glass gobs inside the insulation material (Figure 18). These gobs could cause problems during cutting, packing and handling the glass wool and also inhibit the thermal insulation properties of the final product.
